The Shore - SALA Festival

I didn't know I was drowning, till I saw the shore exhibition

Presented by Penn Housman

#

During the 2021 SALA Festival local artist, Penn Housman will be showing their exhibition The Shore in the rooms at 32 Holden Street.

This collection of images (charcoal and pastels) aims to provide a visual narrative of how abuse looks through the eyes and psyche of the abused. The aim of the work is to provide a deeper emotional understanding of what it is like to live with the impact of childhood trauma.

The exhibition will be open from 10am - 3pm on Thursdays and Fridays as well as on show nights during August.

Art-Making and Its Therapeutic Value - Talk By Penn will be held on Saturday the 28th of August, with the talk at 12:30pm.
Registrations for this event now open!

Penn will also be available to talk about the exhibition between 11am and 3pm on Saturday the 28th of August.

This is a free event.

Praise for The Shore

‘Penn takes the viewer on a breath-taking journey across the decades from abuse to survival to reconciliation. She aptly titles the exhibition, ‘I didn’t know I was drowning till I saw the shore’ and I think this might be the most raw and challenging exhibition I have seen in some time.’ - mindshare

‘I felt so blessed to launch this exhibition – it is one of the most powerful I have ever seen.’ - Katrine Hilyard MP, (Shadow Minister for Women and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence)
