Rob Beckett’s Big Mouth

Holden Street Theatres & Amused Moose Comedy

The much anticipated debut solo show from multi award winning, and cheeky cockney Beckett, delivers bucket loads of mirth, and even occasional laughter-snorts of recognition. Rob has taken UK comedy by storm with his unique observations, unusual take on life, and tales of growing up in a large and loud south-east London family.

Rob only started performing as a stand-up in early 2009 but very quickly enjoyed success in all of the new comedian competitions in the UK, winning four in his first year alone. Consistently impressive performances in these competitions culminated in success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010. Rob beat hundreds of hopeful wannabes to win the prestigious Amused Moose Laugh Off award, compered by Stephen K Amos in front of an audience which included over 100 comedy industry executives from around the globe. Previous winners and runner ups in the Amused Moose Laugh Off include Rhod Gilbert, Jimmy Carr, and Mark Watson.

Beckett performed in a 4star show at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe, is regularly on stage at some of the biggest comedy clubs in the UK, and recently supported Jim Jefferies on his Alcoholocaust tour.

You’re Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy

Written and Performed by Caroline Horton

Holden Street Theatres & Tangram Theatre

January 1945, Paris is liberated.

Christiane waits at Gare Du Nord for a ticket to England to be reunited her with her English fiancé. Whilst she waits, this gloriously irrepressible Mademoiselle recounts the extraordinary love story between her - an eccentric, acutely myopic Parisian - and her shy, uptight beanpole from Staffordshire. From a chance encounter at Cheadle tennis club, their story takes us on to cosmopolitan 1930s Paris before their inevitable separation by war.

A separation, which she hopes, today, will finally come to an end. A fond, comical and ultimately poignant portrait of one woman’s experience of love and war.

You’re Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy was commissioned by China Plate/Warwick Arts Centre/mac for the Bite Size Festival 2010.

It premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010.

Best Solo Performer, The Stage Awards 2010

Steve Hall – Live

Holden Street Theatres & Avolon Promotions LTD.

Hello Adelaide, my name is Steve Hall. I first came to Australia as part of award winning sketch dickheads We Are Klang ("breathtaking comic firepower" The Scotsman); we got nominated the for the Barry Award and The Age called us "unstoppably funny". We also got called "visually pitiful genius fools" which is my favourite ever quote. During that run I also met my future wife, and now 4 years later I'm doing a show in the town where she was born. I've toured round the UK loads, supporting Lee Mack and also my friend the television heartthrob Russell Howard in some stupidly large venues like Wembley Arena. The show might be a little bit rude, though on nights when the wife's family are in I'll probably tone it down a bit. I was runner-up in the BBC's New Comedy Awards when I first started, and the nice quotes at the top there are from my first Edinburgh show. So, you know, it should be good.

Slaves of Starbucks

Peter Aterman

If you have ever worried about the decline of Western Civilization, this show is for you.

My Brain in 3-D

Peter Aterman

Winner of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, Peter Aterman aims to elevate the tone of life and improve society in general. Unsure if stand up is the right avenue, but at least he’s going to try. (He does have a knack for accents, characters and blinding rage.)

The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church

Written and Performed By Daniel Kitson

Gregory had fifty seven letters to write. He’d never written that many letters, not in one go. In fact, he’d never written a single letter and it was taking significantly longer than he’d anticipated.

He’d started, full of optimism, curiously enough, at 9 am and now here he was 8 hours later half way through letter twenty four. He glanced at his watch and then at the noose hanging over his head.

Gregory sighed.

Had he known how long suicide letters take, he thought, he wouldn’t have cancelled the milk for the morning.

The story of a death postponed by life.

Jimmy McGhie – The All-Powerful Warrior Who With His Endurance and Inflexible Will To Win Goes From Conquest To Conquest leaving Fire In His Wake

Holden Street Theatres & Avolon Promotions LTD.

Following on from the critical success at the Edinburgh Fringe 2010, JIMMY MCGHIE brings his full-hour of confessional, character-filled stand-up to Adelaide. He explores his lack of drive in a show about potential and how to unrealise it.

Since his debut Edinburgh Fringe show in 2009, JIMMY has been repeatedly told he looks like Danny Dyer. He has also been thrown out of his flat; has fallen in love with a hippy and has realised he will never be any good at Halo.

JIMMY did manage to go to Africa but did not have the requisite epiphany or return to start a charity. Whilst he was interested in the Colonial legacy and the absolute power of dictators, he mainly noticed that there are quite a lot of wankers passing-off a hedonistic holiday as humanitarian help.

Finally he did the two most shameful things he has ever done in his life.
